Have these ready

Four things that make the call short

  • The model number

On the plate behind the kick panel on a range, or inside the door frame on a wall oven. It decides which parts ride on the van.

  • What it is doing

In your own words. "Clicks but will not light" and "lights then goes out" are two different faults with two different answers.

  • When it started

After a clean, after a power cut, or slowly over a month — each points somewhere different.

  • How we get in

Street parking, a service door, a lift with a booking sheet, or four steps up from the pavement. It changes how long to allow.

Cost

Quoted in full before anything comes apart

Flat $95 service call covering the visit and full diagnosis, credited against the repair once you approve it. These are the bands most repairs land in once the fault is known.

  • $270$690 Igniter or spark module replacement
  • $260$1,090 Burner valve or orifice service
  • $140$720 Oven thermostat or sensor calibration
  • $320$870 Convection fan or motor
  • $540$1,550 Control board or touch panel
  • $200$970 Door hinge, glass or seal
Repair or replace? A comparable new unit is $6,900 to $19,530

A comparable pro range, appliance only — before delivery, installation, gas or electrical work and any cabinetry. A rangetop plus separate wall ovens lands differently again.

What moves a job inside its band

  • Which part failed

An igniter and a control board are the two ends of the same appliance. Ignition, sensors and hardware sit at one end of the range; boards, gas valves and blower assemblies sit at the other.

  • Whether it is a current part

A part for a platform still in production arrives quickly. A superseded board or a discontinued blower means a supersession lookup and a wait, and the quote says so.

  • What it takes to get at it

A range that pulls forward on a tile floor is a different job from a slide-in trapped by a stone counter, or a hood liner four metres up a shared riser.

  • One visit or two

If the part is on the van it finishes that day. If it has to be ordered, the return visit is inside the quoted figure rather than added to it.

Burner caps on the right kept blackening and the flame lifted off them. The wrong caps had been fitted after a deep clean. Correct ones now, and it burns evenly across the top.

The induction zone kept dropping out under a heavy stock pot mid boil. A cooling fan below the glass had clogged with dust and the generator was overheating. Cleaned, new fan, and it has run steadily since.

Big old house with the kitchen several steps up from the street, which nobody enjoys carrying tools into. The range lost its whole left side after a storm surge: a blown fuse and a scorched terminal block behind the panel. Repaired properly rather than patched over.
